48 deputies from all the main political factions of the European Parliament sent a letter to the EU High Representative Josep Borrel, in which they expressed their indignation at the military aggression of Azerbaijan against the civilian population of Artsakh. MEPs call on the head of European diplomacy to take concrete steps in this direction. The letter was initiated by the Cypriot MEP, chairman of the Armenia-EU friendship group in the European Parliament Loucas FOURLAS.
In the letter, the MEPs note that since September 27, Azerbaijan has launched sharp attacks on the indigenous population of Artsakh, grossly violating the norms of international humanitarian law and going against the peace process. They call on Josep Borrell to exert strong pressure on Turkey to prevent any intervention in the conflict by that country, reminding him of its destabilizing role. The MPs stressed the need to create a mechanism to investigate the violation of the ceasefire, proposed by the OSCE Minsk Group.
