The captain of the Maersk Launceston cargo ship that collided with the Greek minesweeping Kallisto ship was arrested.
The departure of the Maersk Launceston is prohibited.
The Maersk Launceston, a large Portuguese-flagged ship – 266 meters long and 36 meters wide – was destined for Dardanellia (Δαρδανέλλια, Turkish: Çanakkale), Turkey.
Two members of the Greek warship’s crew were slightly injured in the collision and were taken to the Athens Naval Hospital. The minesweeper is being towed to the Salamis port for repairs.
It is not known yet who the captain of the Maersk Launceston is.
The serious damage caused to the Kalliso minesweeper ship by the Maersk Launceston is seen in photos and videos taken shortly after the accident.
