Armenia announced the capture of a Syrian who fought on the side of Azerbaijan
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia and the command of the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic claim that they managed to capture a Syrian who, according to their information, participated in hostilities on the side of Azerbaijan.
“The units of the Defense Army have captured yet another terrorist, even a superficial interrogation of whom leaves no doubt about the presence of terrorists on the Azerbaijani front line. The name of the captured Islamic radical and terrorist is Mehred Muhammad Alshkher, originally from Syria,” the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic said.
The detainee reportedly stated during interrogation that he had received training under the guidance of Turkish instructors and after that he was thrown into the front line as part of a detachment of 250 people. According to him, everyone was promised two thousand dollars, but the money was not paid.
The military correspondents of our agency, having looked at the footage of the interrogation of the prisoner, stated that, judging by the dialect, he was born in the north of Hama, in Idlib or in the north of the province of Latakia.
This is not the first time that the armed forces of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have announced the participation of militants of the Syrian pro-Turkish “moderate opposition” in the conflict, but the Azerbaijani authorities deny this, claiming that this is disinformation spread by “some countries.”
As early as September 27, a video appeared on social networks, which allegedly captured a column of Syrian militants from the so-called pro-Turkish “moderate opposition” heading through Azerbaijani territory in the direction of the contact line with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The Azerbaijani government denied all accusations of using mercenaries, but the Turkish authorities responded more ambiguously that they are free to use all possible means to “liberate their lands.”
In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Intelligence Service and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, announced the participation of the Syrian jihadists; President of the United States Donald Trump and Pentagon spokesman, President of France Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel confirmed this fact as well.
The words about the participation of Syrian militants in the hostilities with the Armenian army in Nagorno-Karabakh are confirmed by the activists themselves who support the forces of the “moderate opposition”, who regularly publish reports on the dispatch of jihadists and obituaries about their deaths.
